MSG's (and other glutamates) Effects on Sexual Function
Exposing one to MSG early in life disrupts the endocrine control system in the hypothalamus of the brain. This disruption can actually be permanent. Not only are the hormones that regulate reproduction and sexual function disrupted, but MSG can change the very wiring within this critical area of the brain. This can have crucial effects on the development of the child's sexual characteristics.
Recent studies have shown that both male and female reproductive organs are controlled by glutamate receptors as well. It has been well established that high levels of glutamate can cause destruction of those receptors.
